Roof Cost Calculator for Savannah, GA

Answer four quick questions about your house and this calculator gives a rough price range for a new shingle or metal roof in Savannah, GA, built from 2026 Georgia averages. It works for homes anywhere in Chatham County, takes about a minute and asks for no contact details.

How the Tool Works

Before you start. The calculator turns your floor area into an estimate of roof surface. It divides the floor area by the number of stories to get the footprint, multiplies that by a slope factor (1.12 for a walkable pitch, 1.30 for a steep one) and by 1.10 for the overhang at the eaves, then prices the result per square foot. It is built for pitched roofs with shingles or metal. Slate, tile and flat roofs vary too much for a formula, so each needs a roofer's own quote.

The prices come from the 2026 Georgia cost guide by RoofObservations, which counts tear-off in every row:

Cost rowFigureSource (year)
Georgia 3-tab shingles, per sq ftabout $5.05RoofObservations, 2026
Georgia architectural shingles, per sq ftabout $5.55RoofObservations, 2026
Georgia premium shingles, per sq ftabout $6.90RoofObservations, 2026
Georgia exposed-fastener metal, per sq ftabout $7.40RoofObservations, 2026
Georgia standing-seam metal, per sq ftabout $11.50RoofObservations, 2026

The shingle range runs from the 3-tab row up to the premium row. The metal range starts at the exposed-fastener row and stretches to about $15.30, the guide's figure for aluminum standing seam, so coated and aluminum panels chosen for salt air fall inside it.

The math assumes one layer of old roofing and sound wood underneath. Extra layers, rotten decking, a cut-up roof and historic-district requirements can all lift the real price. More on those in the cost guide.

After the Result

Use the range to set a budget, then get a real number for your roof. The request form passes your details to one independent local roofer, who measures the roof and writes an estimate. There's no charge to you; the roofer who receives your request pays this site for it.

When estimates arrive, compare them line by line, and ask each roofer for proof of insurance and its local business tax certificate. Unsure whether the roof needs replacing at all? The repair-or-replace quiz takes about a minute.
